Curaçao and Anjouan licences: how to check one yourself

Almost every crypto casino Canadians use is licensed in Curaçao or Anjouan. The licence number in the footer is a claim; the regulator's register is the proof. Here is how to read the number and check it in a few minutes.

Reading the number

ALSI-...AnjouanWild.io ALSI-202504044-FI2

Checking in five minutes

  1. Copy the licence number from the casino's footer.
  2. Open the regulator's public register.
  3. Search the number, or the company name.
  4. Check three things: the status (active, valid or revoked), the holder (it should match the company in the footer), and the domain if the register lists one.
  5. Save a screenshot with the date.

A licence is worth checking in the register, not just reading in a footer.

What we found when we checked

Most licences on our payout board checked out cleanly. A few details are worth knowing: Vave's certificate lists the domain vavegame.com; Wild.io and Bitcasino.io moved to new Anjouan holders in 2026; and our wider research found some brands still displaying Curaçao numbers that the register shows as revoked.

When a casino changes licence

A new licence often means a new company and new terms. Before a large deposit after a change, re-read the withdrawal and verification sections. Our reviews of Wild.io and Bitcasino.io mark which figures were read under the previous licence.

Three number formats on our board

FormatExampleWhat it is
OGL/2024/...OGL/2024/1676/0905 (Vave)a licence issued by the Curaçao Gaming Authority under the reformed system
.../JAZ1668/JAZ (Rocketpot)an older Curaçao format from the master-licence era
ALSI-...ALSI-202504044-FI2 (Wild.io)an Anjouan licence

Eight of the thirteen casinos on our board hold Curaçao licences in the OGL/2024 format or the older one; five hold Anjouan licences. When the number on the footer does not fit any of these formats, the register is the place to check before anything else.

What a licence does not tell you

A licence does not tell you how fast a casino pays, how strict its ID checks are, or what its withdrawal caps are. Those are in the terms, which is why our how we rate method reads both.

Licence checks before a first deposit

Five minutes before your first deposit is enough: copy the number from the footer, search it in the regulator's register, and compare the company name with the one in the terms. If the casino moved licence recently, read the withdrawal section of the terms again, since caps and verification rules are sometimes rewritten at the same time. Our reviews note the licence and holder for every casino on the board.

Questions and answers

What does an OGL licence number mean?

OGL numbers, such as OGL/2024/1676/0905, are issued by the Curaçao Gaming Authority under Curaçao's current licensing system.

What does an ALSI licence number mean?

ALSI numbers, such as ALSI-202504044-FI2, are licences listed in the Anjouan register.

How do I check a Curaçao licence?

Search the number or the company in the Curaçao Gaming Authority's public register and check the holder matches the casino's footer.

How do I check an Anjouan licence?

Search the Anjouan public licence register for the number or company and compare it with the footer.

What if the licence is not in the register?

Treat it as a serious warning. A licence that cannot be found offers no recourse.

What does 'revoked' mean in a register?

The licence is no longer valid. Our research found some brands still showing old, revoked Curaçao numbers.

Is a licence change a red flag?

Not on its own; several operators moved from Curaçao to Anjouan in 2025 and 2026. It is a reason to read the current terms.

Does the domain on the certificate matter?

It is worth checking. Vave's certificate, for example, lists vavegame.com rather than vave.com.

Does a licence mean a casino is safe?

It means there is a regulator and a named company. Safety also depends on terms, payouts and how disputes are handled.

Can I complain to a regulator?

Yes, regulators accept complaints about their licensees. Contact the casino first and keep records.
