What a casino player needs from an exchange
A casino player uses an exchange differently from an investor. You buy, send out, and later send back and sell. So the questions are practical:
- Does it take Interac e-Transfer for deposits and withdrawals in CAD?
- Does it sell the coin you want to deposit, on the network the casino accepts?
- Can you withdraw coins to your own wallet, and what does it charge for each coin?
- How fast is the CAD withdrawal back to your bank?
The spread, the difference between the buy and sell price, matters too. On an exchange that advertises zero fees, the cost is usually inside the spread.
Exchanges Canadians use
| Exchange | Funding in CAD | Coins | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shakepay | Interac e-Transfer | BTC, ETH | simple app, few coins |
| Newton | Interac e-Transfer | many | wide coin list |
| Kraken | Interac e-Transfer and others | many | large global exchange |
| NDAX | Interac e-Transfer, wire | many | Canadian, Calgary-based |
| Bitbuy | Interac e-Transfer | many | Canadian |
| Wealthsimple | bank transfer | many | crypto inside an investing app |
Coin lists, limits and fees change. Check the current list on the exchange before you open an account, especially for Litecoin, Tron and USDT networks.
Opening an account
Every Canadian exchange checks your identity when you sign up: photo ID, sometimes a selfie, sometimes proof of address. That check belongs to the exchange, not to the casino, and it applies whatever you later do with the coins.
Turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app, and set a withdrawal address whitelist if the exchange offers one.
Sending coins out
When you withdraw a coin, the exchange asks for the address and, for many coins, the network. Choose the network the receiving side expects. For a casino deposit, that is the network shown in the casino cashier; for your own wallet, the network the wallet uses.
The exchange charges a withdrawal fee per coin. It is often a fixed amount, so on a small transfer it can be a large share. Compare the fee for BTC, LTC and USDT before deciding which coin to buy.
The full route to a casino
The Interac casinos page walks through the whole route in five steps: e-Transfer, buy, send to your wallet, choose the network, deposit. The coins guide helps you choose what to buy.
Coming back to CAD
To cash out: withdraw from the casino to your wallet, send the coins to your exchange, sell for CAD, and withdraw to your bank, often by e-Transfer. Keep a record of each step: dates, amounts and transaction IDs. It makes your own bookkeeping simple.

Questions and answers
What is the easiest way to buy Bitcoin in Canada?
A Canadian exchange that accepts Interac e-Transfer. Open an account, verify your identity, send CAD by e-Transfer and buy. Shakepay, Newton, NDAX, Bitbuy, Kraken and Wealthsimple all take Canadian dollars.
Can I send coins from the exchange straight to a casino?
Technically yes, but some exchanges restrict or question transfers to gambling sites. Sending to your own wallet first keeps the exchange out of it and gives you control of the coins.
Which exchange has the most coins?
Coin lists change, but Kraken and Newton list far more coins than Shakepay, which focuses on Bitcoin and Ethereum. Check that the exchange sells the coin and network you want before signing up.
Do I need ID to buy Bitcoin in Canada?
Yes. Canadian exchanges verify customers before you can buy and withdraw.
How long does an Interac deposit to an exchange take?
Usually minutes, though first deposits or large amounts can be held for review.
Is it cheaper to buy USDT or Bitcoin?
Trading fees are similar; network fees to send are usually lower for USDT on Tron or for Litecoin.
Can I buy crypto with a credit card?
Some exchanges allow it, but card issuers may treat it as a cash advance with extra fees.
What is the spread?
The gap between the buy and sell price. Some platforms advertise low fees but charge through a wider spread.
Should I leave crypto on the exchange?
For casino use, move it to your own wallet before depositing.
How do I sell crypto back to CAD?
Send the coins to the exchange, sell for CAD and withdraw to your bank, often by Interac e-Transfer.
