Crypto crash games: cash out before the line breaks

A crash game is one number that climbs until it stops. You win if you cash out before it does. Crash games started at crypto casinos and are still played most there. Here are the five Canadians search for most, with the figures their studios publish.

How a crash round works

Every crash game follows the same loop:

  1. Betting window. A few seconds to place one or more bets.
  2. The climb. A multiplier starts at 1.00x and rises. On screen it is a plane, a jet, an astronaut, a rocket or a fisherman.
  3. Cash out or lose. Press cash out and your stake is multiplied by the number shown. Wait too long and the round crashes; the stake is gone.
  4. Next round. A new window opens within seconds.

The crash point is decided before the climb starts, either by a random number generator or by a seed system the player can check afterwards. Your choice is only when to leave.

Illustration of a crash round: the multiplier climbs, the player cashes out at 1.95x, the round crashes at 3.58x
An illustrated crash round: cash out before the crash and the stake is multiplied; stay in past it and the stake is lost.

The RTP (return to player) is the share of all stakes a game pays back over a very long run. On a 97% game, the house keeps about 3 cents of every dollar wagered over millions of rounds. In a single session anything can happen.

What the multiplier really means

A cash-out target of 2.00x does not win half the time. Because of the house edge, it wins a little less often than that. The higher the target, the rarer the win. That trade-off is the whole game: low targets win often and pay little, high targets win rarely and pay a lot. The long-run return stays the same whichever you pick.

That is why no betting system changes the outcome. Doubling after a loss, or waiting for a "due" high multiplier, only changes how your balance swings.

Provably fair or RNG?

Two kinds of crash games exist:

  • Seed-based. The game commits to a result before the round, by showing a hash of a server seed, and mixes in seeds from players. After the round you can check the result was not changed. Spribe describes this for Aviator; Turbo Games says Crash X rounds can be verified by seed.
  • RNG-based. A certified random number generator decides the crash point. SmartSoft says the JetX multiplier is generated by an RNG.

Our provably fair casinos page explains how to check a seed yourself.

Where to play crash games with crypto

Crash games are a staple at every casino on our payout board. DuckDice and Wolf.bet list Spribe in their provider line-up, and Wolf.bet also lists Turbo Games. Casinos with their own in-house crash games, such as BC.Game, Shuffle and Stake, often run them on a published seed system.

A budget that fits a fast game

A crash round lasts seconds, so a session can run to hundreds of bets. Decide the session budget in dollars before you start and divide it into many small stakes. Set an auto cash-out so a slow reaction does not decide the result. Stop when the session budget is gone, and do not raise the stake to win it back.

The format dates back to 2014; a short history of Bitcoin casinos tells the story. Crash rounds are a staple of casino streams.

Questions and answers

What is a crypto crash game?

A game where a multiplier rises from 1.00x and stops at a random point. You place a bet before the round and cash out at any moment; your stake is multiplied by the number at that moment. If the round crashes first, the stake is lost.

Which crash game has the best RTP?

Of the five on this page, Aviator publishes 97%, Crash X 96%, Big Bass Crash 95.50% and Spaceman 95%. JetX gives a range of 96.2% to 98.9% depending on settings. The casino chooses which version it runs.

Can a crash game end at 1.00x?

Yes. Most crash games can stop at the very start of a round, and the studios say so. That is part of how the house edge works.

Are crash games provably fair?

Some are. Spribe describes a seed system for Aviator in which the server seed hash is shown before the round. Turbo Games says Crash X rounds can be checked by seed. Pragmatic Play's pages for Spaceman and Big Bass Crash do not describe one.

Is there a strategy that beats crash games?

No. Every round is independent and the return is fixed by the game. Strategies change how often you win and how much, not the long-run return.

What is auto cash-out?

A multiplier you set before the round. The game cashes you out automatically when it is reached. Aviator, JetX, Spaceman and Crash X all offer it.

What is a 50% cash-out?

Spaceman and Big Bass Crash let you take half your stake out at one multiplier and leave the other half running. It lowers the risk of each round without ending it.

Can I place two bets in one round?

In several games, yes. SmartSoft says the new JetX allows up to four simultaneous bets. Many players use one low and one high cash-out target.

Can I play crash games on my phone?

Yes. All five games on this page run in a mobile browser, and the studios list desktop, tablet and mobile.

Which coin is best for crash games?

A stablecoin such as USDT keeps the value of your stakes steady, which makes it easier to stick to a budget in a fast game. Fast networks like Tron or Litecoin help when you top up between sessions.

Do casino bonuses count on crash games?

Often only partly or not at all. Some casinos group crash and similar games together for wagering rules. Read the bonus terms before playing a crash game with bonus funds.
