The payouts are the same on every wheel: 35:1 for a single number, 1:1 for red or black. The extra zero simply adds a pocket where every outside bet loses. That is why the same bet costs about twice as much on an American wheel.

French roulette uses the same single-zero wheel as European roulette, with one extra rule: when the ball lands on zero, even-money bets such as red or black lose only half the stake. That halves the edge on those bets. American roulette adds a second zero and nearly doubles the edge on every bet. At a crypto casino, the version is in the game name; if it is not, count the zeros.
